Is any plastic surgeon able to do upper eyelid filler for hollow eyes?

Question

Is this a type of specialty that only certain doctors can do? I can’t find anyone local that offers this on their website despite offering fillers for lips, cheeks, etc, but no mention of upper eyelids. If I want to stay local, could I make an appointment with any certified plastic surgeon that offers fillers? Or should I stick with an oculoplastic surgeon even though I don’t see them offering fillers at all? Should I call and ask the receptionist if the doctor does it? Thanks!

This is something that should be done *only* by an experienced oculoplastic surgeon due to the proximity to the eyeball. For the right candidate, this procedure produces a great natural result in upper eyelids that are otherwise hollow.

Thank you for your question. It is possible to use dermal fillers to increase the volume of the upper lid and reduce the hollowed appearance you describe. The injector you select should be experienced and comfortable with treating this area of the face.
It is also a good practice to use a blunt-tipped microcannula in this instance rather than a standard needle to administer filler to the very delicate area near the eye. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified injector who is familiar with administering filler near the eye and can advise you on the best option to address your concerns.

Filler to the superior orbital rim is a risky area and not many physicians offer this service. I would recommend asking the plastic surgery offices before making an appointment if that is what you are interested in. Of the plastic surgery subspecialties, my opinion is that facial plastic surgery and oculoplastic surgery would be the most likely to offer this service.

Even though fillers can be used to treat hollowed eyes, Fat in my opinion is a much better choice. You do need to see a plastic surgeon who specialises in such procedures and not just an oculoplastic specialist. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City plastic surgery

This is indeed a "specialty" procedure that only very knowledgeable and experienced injectors should do. This is because the anatomy is quite different than other areas and also has significant risks. I personally prefer fat injection rather than fillers because it is softer under the very thin skin of the eyelid.  Whatever you decide, make sure you choose your injector very carefully.
