I had my top four teeth bonded (because of gaps)about 7 or 8 years ago, at which time they matched the bonding material to the color of my teeth. I am self conscious about the color of my teeth and would like to whiten them. Is re-bonding something that can be done? What about porcelain veneers?

Answer: Bonding or Veneers Whitening won’t change the color of composite bonding. The only way to change the color of bonding is to replace it, which can certainly be done. The advantages of bonding are that it can be done more quickly and less expensively than porcelain veneers and it can be repaired in the mouth. Porcelain veneers are more expensive and time consuming to do, but will be more color stable over time. Keep in mind that veneers will also need replacement eventually and if you’re young enough, more than once.

Answer: Options for whitening bonded teeth? Rebonding is certainly a viable option. Ceramic veneers are quite a bit more expensive, but the color will not degrade over time. If finances are not an issue, go for the veneers.
