I have had caps on my front two teeth since I have been 16 and I am now 19. I also don't know which dentist to trust, are there any guidelines to follow? How much should the procedure roughly cost as well?
Answer: Can I whiten my front two crowns ? and how much ? Unfortunately you can not whiten or bleach your two front porcelain crowns or caps! The only way you can change the color is to have 2 new front porcelain crowns. There is another possible way done by cosmetic dentist in which we can prepare the front of your caps like a veneer, depending on the porcelain material your cosmetic dentist previously, and veneer a whiter and brighter porcelain on the front teeth, however a complete evaluation is necessary. The cost can range widely depending on the expertise of a general dentist to an expert cosmetic dentist or prosthodontist. Usually the range can be from $1000 to about four or five thousand per tooth, after the dentist have done their complete evaluation. If you are thinking to get whiter crowns anyway do your teeth whitening and bleaching prior to changing your crowns, and atleast wait few months before you change your front porcelain crowns, so the exact color you desire can be matched to your new crowns.

Answer: Whitening Whitening the crowns or whitening the teeth? If you feel the teeth are dark compared to the crowns, I would just use some Crest white strips until the other teeth match. If your crowns are dark compared to the teeth, you are dealing with new crowns. Go to the AACD web site if you need to talk with someone likely to know more than the average dentist about smiles.

Answer: Whiter Crowns The only way for you to lighten the front crowns is by replacing them with new crowns that are lighter in color/shade. If you are considering replacing the crowns make sure that the other teeth are of a shade you wish to keep long term, otherwise, whiten all your teeth prior to replacing the crowns in front so you can get the best match possible. The cost is going to depend on a couple things1. Location of the country2. Insurance If your insurance (if your have coverage) originally paid for these crowns 3 years ago they will most likely not cover the expense of the new crowns, there is typically a 5-10 year window. You could always send a pre-authorization estimate into the insurance to determine if they will cover the procedure or not. As far as cost goes, if insurance does not cover the porcedure, you can expect a price range of $900-1,200 depending on where you live. If you are looking for a good, competent dentist you could always call a local dental organization or some specialists in the area (oral surgeons, orthodontists, endodontists) to find out who they would recommend.
