Halitosis or bad breath is usually 85% due to oral manifestation, and using hydrogen peroxide is not the treatment to get rid of bad breath. You will be needing a very comprehensive evaluation to find the cause of the bad breath and have proper treatment to eradicate the root cause of your problem. Having said that 50% hydrogen peroxide can be beneficial and an adjunct to heal your gums after deep cleaning. If mixed with ocean salt it can be used as a mouth wash, the over use of hydrogen peroxide can cause a hairy tongue syndrome.Use alternatively with non alcoholic mouth wash 2 to 3 times a week .

I do not recommend the use of hydrogen peroxide as a mouth rinse. I do have few patients who rinse with it and refuse to quit, however I try to convince them to at least dilute the hydrogen peroxide down to about 10% or less. The issue typically seen with hydrogen peroxide is sloughing of the gum tissue, basically the outside layers of your gums pull away come off. I would highly recommend the use of Listerine antiseptic or Crest ProHealth Rinse instead.
