I'm looking into getting the inverted nipple surgery. I did get my nipples pierced a few years ago to try to bring them out, but they are still somewhat inverted. How would my piercings affect my results? Do I just take them out, can I keep them, or are they a complication?

I would have you remove the piercings for surgery. Any foreign object increases the risk of infection.

I would also ask you to consider if you’d even want the piercings if your nipples were no longer inverted. If not, it makes it easier to decide to remove them for surgery. At this point, scar tissue from the piercing could potentially prevent the nipple from fully projecting.

Surgery can be unpredictable without adding extra variables. The longer I’m in practice, the less I think it’s worth the risk.

The piercings would have to be removed for surgery. Once the nipples were repaired and healed, then the piercing could be reinserted. Unfortunately, due to the piercing, you are at higher risk of infection from the bacteria that lives in the tunnel.
