"String" / Tendant in my arm pit? (photos)

Question

Good evening Doctors, I had breast augmentation in April 2015. For the most part it's been a smooth recovery however my son was a couple of months old and I carried him a lot on my left side. I now feel smallish lumps near my incision under my breast and noticed a strange feeling under my arm pit when I lift my arm. I now have seen that there is a tendant / "string" running through it (please see attached photo) Can anyone tell me what it is and if it's serious?

Hello,Thank you for your question- you don't have a photo here.  What you are describing may be a Mondor's cord which is common and temporary, however if you aren't sure and are concerned, I recommend that you visit your Plastic Surgeon so that they can examine and advise you.All the best

Your photo didn't load. However, if your "string" is a cord that runs from your breast to your upper abs, it's probably the fascia and should resolve on its own as long as you take it easy. My best,

The photo did not load.  If you have cord or band that runs from the breast to the upper abdomen when you raise your arm, this is likely the muscle attachments or fascia.  This will typically resolve with time and conservative measures.  If not, a photo would be helpful to better understand your concern.

Thank you for the question but the photos did not come through. That said what you are describing may be a Mondor's cord in your arm pit to the breast and which is a thrombosed vein that can occur in women even withut breast surgery.Dr. Corbin
