Mid-upper back pain after Breast Augmentation. Any suggestions?

This can certainly be miserable and is not at all uncommon. You are sleeping in a compromised position which is always difficult. Sleeping in an upright position can make your muscles stiff, especially if you're not moving at all or you are nervous about moving. Ask your doctor if you can sleep on your side now.  Most patients contract or tighten their muscles after augmentation because their breasts are sore. It is a protective measure that is done without thinking about it. The other movement many  patients do is roll their shoulders forward or hunch forward without realizing they are doing it. This can cause upper back spasms and tightness. Try rolling your shoulders back and push your chest forward this should help the pain and tightness you are experiencing in your Trapezius and your Rhomboid muscles. It is too soon to use over the counter anti-inflammatories due to the risk of bleeding. Discuss with your doctor so they can advise you further. I attached some range of motion exercises that can be helpful after breast surgery. Hope this helps.

Hello,Thank you for your question. Back/neck pain can be a common complaint after breast augmentation. Sometimes this is due to muscle strain and posture changes/poor back support. I recommend that you talk with your Plastic Surgeon about your concerns and let them advise you.All the best

Speak with your surgeon about possibly having him or her prescribe a muscle relaxer for your upper back. Sorry that you are so uncomfortable, but it's not uncommon. My best,

Thank you for the question. The pain unfortunately is not uncommon. It is due to the protective posture (bending  down) that you tend to do. Straightening out the upper body help. If your doctor could prescribe muscle relaxant, that tend to help as well. Good luck. 

Changes in how you usually sleep can cause new pains in your back and neck. It's best to see your surgeon and talk to them about the pain you're experiencing. They may recommend that you start sleeping in a different position that is more comfortable for you.
