How to know if I have "popped" a suture after tummy tuck?

Hi. It is remarkably common for patients to have this sensation and concern after a tummy tuck. It is highly unusual for it to herald a significant complication.  That said, I'm sure you will be seeing your surgeon again and when you do, you can draw their attention to it. Most surgeons use multiple internal sutures, so even in the unlikely event of one "popping", the consequences would be minimal.

It is difficult to know whether any internal sutures have "popped". Rest assured that there are many internal sutures and this episode is very unlikely to affect your outcome. It is not uncommon for patients to have these type of sensations after a tummy tuck & it is uncommon for there to be problems.  See your surgeon if the area continues to swell.  Continue follow up as planned.  Take care Kim

I would not be concerned at the moment. there are many stitches used in an abdominoplasty and even if this was a stitch that had relaxed it is unlikley to alter your result. See you PS for reassurance.
