When can I have IPL after Morpheus8?

Question

I had Morpheus8 done a week ago. It is my understanding it likely won't do much for hyperpigmentation. How long after Morpheus8 should I wait to have IPL done?

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis. We see atrophic and hypertrophic scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to discuss the best treatment options for your type of skin. .

Correct, Morpheus8 does not address discoloration or hyperpigmentation on the skin. It is recommended to wait at least 1 week post Morpheus8 procedure prior to receiving IPL. Recommended time waiting after Morpheus8 to have another service done varies from procedure to procedure and is ultimately up the the treatment provider. When in doubt it always best to verify with your practioner prior to receiving any additional treatment.

pre and post treat your skin to ensure you limit pigmentation. AERIFY or ENLIGHTEN can be added on top of morpheus.  IPL can be done at same time as morpheus and lasers.  Best, Dr. Emer.

IPL utilizes filtered pulsed light to improve discoloration and sun-damage to treat the surface of the skin. Morpheus8 uses bipolar fractional radiofrequency to penetrate deeper into the skin for laxity and acne scars. If you have recently done Morpheus8, best to wait until the mild redness has subsided &mdash; so that the post-Morpheus redness and skin reaction isn’t a target for the IPL.
