Thank you for your question.I suggest waiting 6 weeks before submersing yourself in water such as a pool or bath tub. In the meantime, just take showers. However, consult your surgeon as he/she may have different post op protocols.Regards,
I recommend 6 weeks after your surgery to prevent any infection, your incisions have to be completely healed, every surgeon has different post op care instruction consult with your PS.
Hello AshleyShantelle, I appreciate your questions! Every patient is unique and will have different healing deadlines. I usually recommend my patients to avoid tub soaking while sutures or drains are in place. Your doctor may give you specific information on when you no longer need the drain and when it will be removed, but generally these are removed between 4-7 days after surgery, when the drainage output is less than 30 ml/24 hrs. It's recommended to avoid swimming or being in a bath tub when you have wounds that are still open since these wounds can get infected caused by Vibrio bacteria. Since every case is different, I recommend consulting with your plastic surgeon about your specific needs and concerns. Best regards! Dr. De La Cruz.
