I recommend that my patients consume 100 grams of protein each day during the healing phase for the first six weeks following surgery. This protein can be in the form of manufactured premier protein shakes or optimum whey protein added to milk or water. The objective is not weight gain but promotion of healing. Other sources of protein are eggs, fish, lean beef, turkey, chicken, nuts, peanut butter, cheese, quinoa, and beans. You want to maintain a stable weight with a well balanced diet.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

In case of any question, I would suggest you to consult your plastic surgeon.
