Will the scrape in my forehead leave a scar? (Photo)

Question

I vertically scraped my face in the forehead and now it’s turning dry and white And shiny around it. Scab is not developing. Will it scar and possibly turn into keloid? I have few keloid in my body from major injuries and accidents but not in face. I used neosporin the first 1-2 days and now its day 5 and used vaseline to cover it up. Should i worry about scarring or it is fine and will heal perfectly in time?

The wound pictured is still in the "acute" stages of healing, and the white and shiny parts will soon fade. Keloids are extremely unlikely on the forehead (even with a history of keloid scarring), and this area of the face (or even body for that matter) has the remarkable ability to heal almost scar-less in most. I would not worry about scarring, just be sure to use sun blocking or UV blocking lotions to provide the best environment to heal. Best of luck!

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.

Scars can be temporary, but they can also be permanent.It depends on the skin and genetics. If you are prone to keloids, then any mark/ scar is more likely to keloid.Biocorneum twice daily is a product that I use for my patients that help minimize scarring.Best. Dr Brecht
