Is there any physcian in the Seattle area that uses a CO2 laser to remove tissue affected by Hidradenitis Suppurativa? (Photo)

Question

I have Hidradenitis Suppurativa under each arm pit...and a milder (but steadily progressing) form in the groin/labia/buttocks/inner thigh area. I am having a difficult time locating a dermatologist that has the necessary CO2 laser equipment and/or awareness of using said laser to remove HS tissue. Previous therapies tried include: humira, kenalog injections, metformin, accutane, and many antibiotics. I believe surgery is the last option.

You'll want to see a board certified doctor with skill, expertise, and the best techniques with laser treatments. Don't let distance dissuade you. Look at doctors who do live filmings, teachings, and have good before and after photos on social media sites! Best, Dr. Emer

Thanks for your question and posting pictures.  From your pictures, you appear to be a darker Skin Type.  If that is the case, you probably aren't a candidate for Co2 laser treatments.  We have one H.S. patient that we treated with the PicoSure FOCUS lens.  She lives 300+ miles away, but has driven in twice for treatment.  With that distance, we do not closely follow her progress.  She feels like it is helping her skin and reducing flare ups.  We are treating the same areas of your concern.  This is only one anecdotal report, but it may help.  If you find a provider by you, they can call us for the settings that we used.  Best of luck.

PLEASE see a dermatologist with an interest in HS , laser is NOT the answer. HS is very difficult to treat, and often input from dermatologists, endocrinologist, dieticians and plastics is Gold Standard assessment.
