What do Breast Implants look like after breast feeding?

Question

A person haven't had kids yet. If a person get them now what can a person expect them to look like after breastfeeding. Will they notice a change? If so, what can they do to keep my implants looking good after breast feeding? Will they for sure need a revision?

Pregnancy and breast feeding really don't change the implants, but the overlying breast tissue can get looser causing breast sag or you can gain or lose breast volume. This will alter the appearance of the breast, but won't affect the implants. Also, breast feeding is perfectly safe with breast implants.

If you were very small busted to begin, breast feeding probably will not affect the augmented breasts very much.  Nevertheless, it's impossible to say.  Finish the process and reevaluate at that time.

After Breast Feeding, one's breast volume changes and frequently women notice this with loss of volume in the upper lateral aspect with concomitant drop of the breast lower on the chest or sagging.  Regarding the question above, no specifics can be answered as there are no photographs to point to.  The revision is based almost entirely on the skin, loss of elasticity, and breast sagging on the chest wall.

I tell patients that all bets are off as to what your breasts will look like after pregnancy and breast-feeding. Each patient is going to have a different and unredictable response. Some breasts will get largeer and stay large. Some will get larger and then shrink. Others will stay the same size but become droopy. In addition, there may be an increased chance that your implants will get a bit firmer with pregnancy. Whether or not you will need a revision depends on the changes that occur and your response emotionally to those changes, but you should expect your breasts to not stay the same.Robin T.W. Yuan, M. Thank you for the question.Breast implants do not necessarily change position or shape after pregnancy.However, the overlying breast tissue and/or skin does often change. The exact change the specific patient will experience during or after pregnancy is not predictable. Some common changes seen with the breasts  after pregnancy include " involutional  hypoplasia" (breasts  become smaller)  and/or breast ptosis (" drooping"). The changes the breasts experience may be related to genetic factors, skin elasticity changes, hormonal effects, and/or weight gain/loss around the time of pregnancy.The changes that the overlying breast tissue and/or skin undergo after pregnancy may  cause the breast implant to appear “changed” after the pregnancy. For example, if the patient loses breast tissue volume after pregnancy, the breast implant may become more exposed and the patient may feel (rippling)  or see the implant more so than before pregnancy. On the other hand, many patients do well, despite pregnancy and do not require additional surgery post partum. I hope this helps.
