SculpSure under chin - I haven’t developed a lump or anything. How do you know if it’s working?

I had SculpSure under my chin two weeks ago. It seemed slightly swollen for a week and now just looks and feels the same as before. I haven’t developed a lump or anything. How do you know if it’s working? Am I supposed to have some lumps following as the doctor had mentioned that, but I don’t have anything. Thank you!

Thank you for your question. Once the swelling subsides, you should begin to see improvement, especially as you get closer to the four to six month mark. Always work with a board certified facial plastic surgeon.

I would say that most patients do not develop lumps after a SculpSure treatment.  It is possible to develop temporary lumps during the healing process, but this normally does not occur.  It can take up to 12 weeks to see the results after a SculpSure treatment, and frequently, more than one treatment session is needed to obtain the desired result.

Some patients may experience swelling after their SculpSure treatment that can last up to a week. Patients may or may not experience small nodules, which resolve over time. Having or not having these symptoms post treatment should not effect the outcome of the treatment. Most patients begin to see results from their treatment at around the 6 week mark and their full results 12 weeks after their second treatment.

Thank you for your question. SculpSure is great at treating pinchable fat, including the submental area aka the double chin. Swelling can be present for the first week or two with transient nodules. However, this is not always present and should not affect your result. Result can be seen after 6 weeks of your treatment but best 12 weeks after your second SculpSure session. Hello,Patients all heal in different ways.  We counsel patients that tenderness and slight swelling can be present for 1-2 weeks post Sculpsure submental and that in some patients, transient nodularity can be present post treatment (more often seen in lower abdominal contouring).   Patients begin to see slight reduction occurring around 6 weeks post initial treatment, but optimal results are present 3 months post the second treatment with greater reduction seen 1 year post.  Hope that helps!

Thanks for your question! Tenderness and swelling are totally normal post- treatment. Not every patient develops lumps, but that is not an indication of ScupSure working or not. Two weeks is a little early to see results. It takes about 6-12 weeks for the body to eliminate damaged fat cells using the lymphatic system, so you will start seeing results then. At two weeks out from treatment, it is too early to see your final results. Your experience post-treatment sounds normal - with a bit of swelling and/or tenderness for a few days to a week after treatment. During the SculpSure treatment, your fat cells in the treated area are damaged and then those damaged cells are removed through your body's lymphatic system. This process can take some time and some patients may start to see results as early as 6 weeks following treatment as the body begins to eliminate the destroyed fat cells. Optimal results are seen about 12 weeks post-treatment. For most patients, whether they are treating the submental (under chin) area or the body, we usually recommend at least 2 treatments to see optimal results. At my clinic, we like to see patients back at the 12 week mark for photos. Given that this process can take time, sometimes it's hard as a patient to evaluate the changes in their appearance. Before and after photos and consulting with your provider is a good way to evaluate the effectiveness of your treatments.
