Does Sculptra offer an assistance program for patients with HIV-related facial wasting? Is it covered by Medicare?

I have some facial disfiguration from HIV, most obvious is having sunken cheeks. This makes me very self-conscious. I would like to know if Sculptra (or other fillers) are available at reduced cost when used for this purpose. Is it covered by Medicare? I live in Southern California.

Sculptra does have a patient assistance program for patients treated for HIV-associated facial lipoatrophy.  Qualification for the program is based on income.  The other filler that has a patient assistance program for treating HIV-associated facial lipoatrophy is Radiesse.  Results from Sculptra typically will last longer than those from Radiesse.  I am not certain if Medicare covers treatment with Sculptra.

the assistance program is very minimal now a days and you get very little, only if you make almost nothing.  good doctors in this treatment charge a fee for treatment since its cosmetic. but in general I find most of my HIV patients need surgery, implants, fat grafting (if they have) PLUS Sculptra.  Silikon 1000 is also an option if you have HIV.  I suggest seeing an expert.  Cosmetic treatments aren't approved by insurance. Best, Dr. Emer.
