We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Subcision, a relatively inexpensive, safe and effective modality that I have been performing for nearly three decades, is used to elevate and smooth all kinds of indented scars and indentations on the face and elsewhere. Just fyi, the effect can be enhanced by the use of an appropriate filler. However, for nearly two decades, it was routinely performed without the use of filler and worked quite well. The entire procedure, in experienced hands, should take no more than about five minutes to perform and engenders little to no significant downtime. Hope this helps.
