Should I be concerned about varicose veins? 21 y/o female. (photo)

Hi, I’m 21 female with very pale skin. I have a couple thread veins in various parts of my body/visible blue veins. Is the vein on the picture varicose? Is it a concern. Please help.

Hello, Thank you for the question. Are you having any leg pain, swelling or cramping? If not, then this is more than likely cosmetic. A fairly easy fix with sclerotherapy. If you have having some symptoms with it, then it may be medical. While not overly concerning, it generally will continue to progress. Move vein clinics will do some sort of cosmetic consultation. The vein pictured is a reticular vein. These veins run just under the skin and can often "feed" spider veins. It can be treated with cosmetic sclerotherapy or even a very limited microphlebectomy if you do not like the appearance but it is not a clinical concern and does not need to be treated, especially if you are not symptomatic.
