Botox oily skin

Question

I had botox several months ago and within a day of injection I became incredibly oily all over my forehead where I was injected. It leaves wet marks on my fingers where I've touched my foreehad. I'm so upset since botox it has ruined my appearance as my forehead stands out against my dry face skin. Other articles say this cannot happen and I feel so ignored, please advise if this will ever go. Is it permanent? I have no skin conditions or other issues.

Hi Eleanor55. I am so sorry that you were dealing with a change in your skin. It would be very unlikely for botox to result in an increase in oil. Botox decreases sebum production from your sebaceous glands. It would usually make the areas of injection less oily. This is why botox can be helpful for acne and those who have excessive sweating. I'm sorry to hear about your reaction to your Botox treatment.  Though oily skin is not common after Botox, it can happen.  The effects of Botox are temporary so your oily skin should improve as the Botox results gradually fade.
