Hello, I have a scar on my eyelid. I was recently told that scar revision was not recommended as the scar is very mild and there is not enough tissue to remove it. I would like to kindly ask, what other non surgical alternatives are there is any? I understand scars cannot be completely made disappeared. However, minimizing its appearance would be amazing.

There are several non-surgical options available for minimizing the appearance of scars, including the scar on your eyelid. Some of these options include:

-Silicone sheets or gels: Silicone is a popular ingredient in scar treatment products because it can help to flatten and smooth out the scar tissue. Silicone sheets or gels are applied directly to the scar and worn for several hours a day, usually for several weeks or months.

-Steroid injections: If the scar is raised or red, your doctor may recommend steroid injections to help reduce inflammation and flatten the scar tissue. Steroid injections are typically done in a series of treatments spaced a few weeks apart.

-Laser therapy: Laser therapy can be used to help reduce the appearance of scars by stimulating collagen production and breaking down scar tissue. This treatment is typically done in a series of sessions spaced a few weeks apart.

-Microneedling: Microneedling involves using a device with tiny needles to create micro-injuries in the skin, which triggers the body's natural healing response and stimulates collagen production. This can help to reduce the appearance of scars over time.

-Scar creams or ointments: There are many over-the-counter scar treatment creams and ointments available that can help to reduce the appearance of scars. These products usually contain ingredients like vitamin E, aloe vera, or onion extract, which are thought to help improve skin texture and reduce inflammation.
It's important to note that while these non-surgical treatments can be effective for minimizing the appearance of scars, they may not completely eliminate the scar or make it disappear completely. You should also discuss any potential risks or side effects with your doctor before undergoing any scar treatment.

Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started.
