Scar & Jowl Lumps After Chin Implant?

   It is way too early to worry about scars and lumps after your recent chin implant.  These questions are best left to your surgeon who is in the best position to answer you as he is aware of your individual anatomical considerations.

It is not uncommon to have the incision from a chin implant be somewhat raised and hard one week after placement of a chin implant.  Normally, the incision should become softer and flatter as it heals.  It is also not unusual to have some swelling present around the entire lower face at one week after surgery.  It can take a few weeks for the majority of the swelling to subside, but can take 6-12 months for all of the swelling to resolve.  

One week is too early to worry about either of these issues. A protruding scar is actually preferable at this stage since scars contract with time and this scar has a better chance of healing well than an inverted scar. Lumps on the side are totally normal. Listen to your surgeon and give it time. I'm sure things will be fine in time.
