Pain around implants 10 years later - should I have them taken out?

I had butt implant surgery by Dr. Ryan Stanton in Los Angeles 10 years ago in 2015. Over the years, I have had constant pain around the implants doesn’t hurt when I stand or walk however, it hurts when I sit for a long periods of time. Is this normal or do I need to have the implants taken out? Also, and I don’t know if this is From the implants or not, but I have neuropathy in my feet and cramps in my feet and calves, which has gotten worse over the years. I did not have that before the implants.

Dear Sociable,
   It would have been helpful to see your before and after pictures. Did you talk to Dr Stanton about it ? What did he say ? My interpretation of your situation is as follows :
   1.  You might have hard implants. Todays implants are very soft. So replacing the implant with current implants might solve your problem.
  2. You might have capsule contracture that requires capsulotomy (scar release)
  3. I believe that Dr Stanton places the implants intra muscular, which might leave thin layer over the Sciatic nerve. Converting the pocket to sub fascial (my technique) level might give better protective layer over the Sciatic nerve.
    Always consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who perform lots of butt implants surgery in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly, check the pictures of butt implants in the photo gallery to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive with single scar, round hips, nice projection and natural look.

It has been experience of many of us who used buttock implants that some patients developed problems which you describe. That is one of the reasons I stopped using buttock implants in my practice. Removal of implants and buttock enhancement with other methods should be discussed with your surgeon. Good luck.
