From what I have seen in the past, I do not recommend traveling outside the US for surgery. You may get a "deal" on the cost of surgery however without the regulations we have here, you are not protected. In addition, if there are complications after surgery the costs will mount quickly.Take care and do a search for a surgeon in the US.
I practice on the U.S./ Mexico border and many patients go across the border for 'cheap' procedures. They often have major problems and wind up needing 2-3 procedures and many days in the hospital to deal with complications. They wind up spending twice as much as if they would have stayed in the US. The worst thing is that once a job is poorly done it is sometimes never possible to get a good result. You are taking a MAJOR risk by traveling outside the US for surgery. You may think you are getting a "deal" on the cost of surgery however without the regulations we have in the U.S. you are asking for trouble. The sweetness of a good deal is long forgotten while the long term consequences of poor quality remain. You get what you pay for. Your body isn't the place to save a few dollars. In addition, if there are complications after surgery you would have to return because no surgeons in the US will want to deal with it.Make sure you see a surgeon board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
As with most parts of the world, the pricing and quality vary widely in the Dominican Republic. Many patients in South Florida have found that they can get comparable if not less expensive surgery from board certified plastic surgeons in South Florida than travelling to the Dominican Republic due to the large volume of breast cases that we do in this area. Moreover, follow up care is better and easier in South Florida than the Dominican Republic. For cost containment and the highest quality, choose a board certified plastic surgeon that owns a nationally accredited surgical center. Avoid centers that are owned by businessmen or mills that push quantity over quality. Consult 3 experienced and expert board certified plastic surgeons to understand your options.
Hello dearThe price of breast augmentation varies , this will depend on the type of anesthesia , facility , of the surgeon , etcBest regards
I would not recommend flying outside of your community for breast implants or go to a city where you do not have family and friends to stay with. Any complication can easily double the cost of your surgery. Even if there are great surgeons in the Dominican Republic the other staff and operating rooms do not have the same regulations in effect in the United States. OF course it is tempting to opt for a less expensive surgeon or place, your first shot is the best shot for obtaining a great result.
Pricing is based on regional geography, the individual surgeon, type of anesthesia, and the facility used.Good LuckStephen M. Davis, MD, FACSGreen Hills Plastic Surgery
Thanks for the question. When it comes to costs of surgery, there may be many “variables” involved. The specific surgeon's credentials/experience level (or lack thereof), the specific geographic area you are looking at, the different operations available, the location of the procedure (quality of surgery facility), type/quality of anesthesia provider, type of breast implants… are some of the potential variables involved. You will find some average costs of surgery listed on this website and on individual plastic surgeons' websites as well.In regards to outcome of the planned procedure, more important than costs of the procedures will be careful selection of your plastic surgeon. I would suggest starting with the American Society of Plastic Surgery and/or the Aesthetic Society of Plastic Surgery to obtain a list of well experienced board-certified plastic surgeons. Then, I would suggest you visit a few surgeons whose practices concentrate on aesthetic surgery. Ask to see lots of examples of their work and preferably speak/see patients who have had similar procedures done.Be very careful with your decision-making. You will find, while doing your due diligence, that there are many different “specialties” who will offer their services to you; again, I strongly recommend you concentrate on surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.Again, I would also suggest that you do not base your selection of plastic surgeon primarily on costs of surgery; keep in mind that revisionary surgery may be more costly in many ways. You may find the attached link helpful as you learn more. Best wishes.
With all of the horror stories we see from "cheap" overseas surgery, you would do better to ask what it will cost to either fly back and forth to care for complications (if the surgeon will even see you, which is another matter), or how much will it cost for a local surgeon to take care of complications and likely redo the surgery.
