Gum contouring and teeth bonding, how long do I have to wait between procedures? (photos)

The healing time for gum contouring  depending on the extent and whether bone contouring is required also! Usually for gum contouring the length of time is 2 weeks to 2 months if bone is involved more time is required up to 4 months. It is best to ask the surgeon or the periodontist prior. It is not recommended to have tooth bonding and porcelain veneers done at the same time of the surgery, but it is advisable to wait for complete healing of the gums prior to do any dental restoration.

It typically can take anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months for the tissue to heal once it has been altered. If you plan on having restorative work communicate this with your periodontist prior to your procedure so that all of your doctors can be on the same page!

It is best not to have both procedures done at the same time. I generally wait for 2 months for the gums to heal before doing the next procedure. Common practice says to wait for 6 weeks but I have found that an extra 2 weeks of maturity for the gums works better. From the photos it appears that you will also need some bone contouring under the gums to get a truly cosmetic result.
