Rapid weight gain after breast reduction? I've gained 30lbs all in my belly.

Question

I wish someone would acknowledge the truth and quit telling me that my belly just "appears" bigger. In the 1.5 yr since my BR, I've gained 30lbs all in my belly. I'm not an over eater. Something about the breast reduction caused my body to react in a way that makes me store fat at a rapid pace. Could it have caused early menopause? Did it create a surge in hormones? Please don't tell me that its all in my head.Has this happened to anyone else?

Dear GoodbyeGG,I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment. Only after thorough examination you can get proper recommendations and advice.

This is not something I have witnessed or read about in the literature. There could be an unrelated medical explanation, such as coincidentally entering menopause at the same time as your surgery. I would recommend seeing your family physician and having a general physical and blood tests which could include hormone levels.
