I had septorhinoplasty 4 and a half months ago. After surgery, my skin became too loose, which makes my face look like it is drooping, adding at least 10 years to my face(I am 33). See the pictures. Will the issue go away by the 12 mo mark. Is there anything that can be done to reverse this effect(besides plastic surgery)? I have thick skin but I don't see any improvement over time...the problem becomes worse. Thank you
Answer: Will loose skin after septorhinoplasty go away by the 12 month mark & how to reverse it? (Photos) Hi Optimistic, We begin to lose facial boney volume from age 25 on. It appears that you would benefit from a small amount of volume. I would treat you with one vial of strategically placed Sculptra which would take care of your concerns. Unfortunately, I do not believe that your hollows will improve over time without a bit of volume replacement. Be sure to have an expert physician take care of you. Feel free to contact me with any further questions. Good luck and be well. Michael Persky, MD Encino, CA

Answer: Loose skin At this time it is still too early to determine the final results. If after one year you haven't seen adequate improvement you can consider options to address your concerns. The correct recommendation will depend on how everything heals. Potential treatments could include fillers, AccuTite, and Morpeheus8. Often times patients elect to combine one or more of these options to enhance results.

Answer: Residual swelling of nasolabial folds and lower eyelids 4 1/2 months after rhinoplasty Hi and welcome to our forum! From your photos, I note exaggeration of the nasolabial folds and fullness of the lower eyelids. As you are only 4 1/2 months after rhinoplasty and since no surgery was performed on the eyelids or cheeks, it is safe to assume that this phenomenon is due to residual swelling from your surgical procedure and not due to loose skin. Rhinoplasty is a traumatic procedure. The skin and soft tissue is stripped from the underlying nasal bones, the nasal bones are separated from underlying mucosa, and the nasal bones are fractured with a chisel. As a result, it takes at least 12-18 months for the swelling to subside. Swelling is composed of tissue fluid which provides nutrition to the healing tissues. It is a normal phenomenon. Be patient as this will subside over time. Best wishes...

Answer: Postoperative swelling Hi and welcome to our forum! From your photos, I note fullness of the lower eyelid and of cheeks and the nasolabial fold, both areas a distance away from the surgery itself. The early rhinoplasty result appears excellent. As you are only 4 1/2 months out of surgery, this is a normal phenomenon. The performance of rhinoplasty involves the dissection of the nasal bones and cartilages from overlying and underlying structures, fracturing the nasal bones, removing excess bone / cartilage, reshaping of the remaining bone and cartilage. The significant intraoperative trauma causes swelling (which may be asymmetric), which will make your nose look large and wide. This will improve markedly over the first 6 weeks, but will take at least 12-18 months for your nose and surrounding structures to assume their final shape and size. There is no surgery to accelerate healing. You need to be patient...Continue follow up with your surgeon.Best wishes...
