Im trying to find a clear cut answer on taking my prescribed adderall after having my surgery because of the stimulant it has in it, also if I have one cigarette, I’m not a habitual smoker I have one when I’m super stressed probably 1 in every 4-5 months but this procedure has been very stressful for my husband and I if I were to smoke one would it seriously ruin my healing process
Answer: Breast Augmentation Hi & thanks for your question! It is recommended that you do not smoke 3 weeks before surgery and 3 weeks after to avoid any complications and healing issues. Check with your surgeon on when you can take your Adderall. Best wishes!

Answer: Medication, smoking, and surgery These questions need to be discussed with your surgeon as opinions vary. Smoking cessation before surgery and during recovery is important as it can impact your ability to heal and can lead to infection. Your surgeon will let you know when it is okay for you to resume your medications as well.

Answer: Don't smoke. Hi Reliable454486,Smoking is the single worst thing you can do for healing surgical incisions. This is particularly important for an augmentation, where the skin and soft tissue closure isolates the implant from the outside world, and where an infection or open would can be particularly problematic. Smoking a single cigarette will reliably constrict the small blood vessels in your body for an hour or two--and these small blood vessels are essential for healing. Thus, smoking directly decreases your body's ability to heal. I would suggest absolutely no smoking for 4-6 weeks before and at least 4 weeks after surgery. Hope this helps.Best,Christopher Pannucci MD MSBoard Certified Plastic SurgeonPlastic Surgery NorthwestSpokane, Washington

Answer: Post-op Adderall and smoking The answer to holding Adderall should be discussed with your primary care doctor who prescribed it in the first place. We generally ask patients to stop smoking completely 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery. You may need to check with your plastic surgeon to determine their policies.

Answer: Postoperative protocol Dear Reliable454486, I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.
