Is CoolSculpting a good idea before pregnancy?

I'm a 23 year old female, I'm fairly active but have always struggled with weight, especially around my tummy area. I want to try coolsculpting, but my husband and I plan on having kids in the near future. How would coolsculpting affect being pregnant?

CoolSculpting is safe to do before pregnancy. Keep in mind that the treatment is for spot reduction of fat and not a weight loss solution. As you gain weight during your pregnancy, it is possible that you will regain fat in the treated area. The treatment can then be repeated once you deliver and are finished breastfeeding if you are unable to get rid of the fat on your own. Best wishes.

It’s best to get a formal evaluation from your doctor. Typically, CoolSculpting won’t affect future pregnancies. If you have small problem areas you can use non invasive methods like coolsculpting with vanquish to get small areas of fat reduced. Skin also tightens if you combine this with exilis ultra or venus legacy radiofrequency treatments. You boost the results from coolsculpting if you add in radiofrequency. We also combine coolsculpting with radiofrequency and shock therapy like Z wave and cellutone to get even faster results, more improvement, and less risk of combinations like nodules, swelling, neuropathy or paradoxical hyperplasia. Great question. While CoolSculpting® cannot be performed while you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, there’s no reason why you can’t schedule your treatment before becoming pregnant. That said, if you are actively trying to conceive now, you may want to hold off on getting CoolSculpting until after your pregnancy to ensure you’re not pregnant during treatment.

Bear in mind that it is still possible to gain weight after CoolSculpting, so your results may be affected by weight gained during pregnancy. You may want to schedule a consultation now to discuss your options and timeline.

Hello there.  First and foremost, Coolsculpting will not affect getting pregnant or staying pregnant.  It is not considered safe to perform during pregnancy however.  Let's look at what Coolsculpting does.  Coolsculpting permanently removes a percentage of fat cells in the desired area.  It cannot be considered a weight loss option.  Weight does not change significantly with Coolsculpting.

Coolsculpting is great for stubborn and distinct areas of fat on the abdomen or elsewhere but it is definitely not a weight loss solution. Even our patients that have had truly excellent results have had very little change in weight. Simply stated- fat is fluffy.
