I woke up a few weeks ago to one eyelid appearing lower on my face, almost hooded. I’m 23, so I didn’t expect sudden wrinkles or anything of the sort. A couple days later I noticed some muscle soreness. I also went to my PCP to rule out anything serious, and they said I looked fine and it seemed like swelling. How long should I wait before I investigate ways to resolve this cosmetically? Could Botox or filler help? Before and after attached.
Answer: Need to come in to consult For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Swelling You will want to first explore the cause of the swelling and treat it accordingly before proceeding with cosmetic treatments. Botox is typically used to soften the appearance of wrinkles and conservatively lift the brow. It does not address eyelid ptosis or swelling. If you do not notice improvement you may want to visit with an ophthalmologist.

Answer: Eyelid appearing lower on my face. The condition, known as ptosis, can result from the levator muscle weakening, which is the muscle that holds up your eyelids or can also result from continuous pulling on your eyelids.Sagging eyelids can potentially make someone look older and more tired than they actually feel and look. Additionally, when the eyelids droop, they can give rise to medical concerns, as the eyelids could disrupt your vision. Botox is a viable means to alleviate your hooded eyelids.

Answer: Re: Sudden change in eyelids accompanied by muscle tenderness Hi, Thank you for the question. Hopefully your issue has cleared up on its own. It is difficult to comment on one sided lid ptosis without a full history and physical examination, in order to rule out any medical causes, of which there are several. Also, a history of any prior aesthetic procedures is necessary. Your primary care physician may refer you to an ophthalmologist for a full evaluation. In terms of treatment options, there are eye drops containing oxymetazoline which stimulates the muscles of the eyelid to contract, which can provide up to 1mm lid lift. Hope this is helpful,Dr. Thiesen
