Implants can be customized to the look you want. Symmetry and volume of the cheeks can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra. While cheek augmentation can be beneficial in facial reshaping, the submalar implant style would be exactly what you wouldn't use. Such cheek implants add volume underneath the front part of the cheek making the lower cheek fuller. A V-shape require a high cheek (malar) augmentation combined with midfacial defatting. Such cheek implants are not a standard style and would have to be custom made to hug up against the lateral infraorbital and lateral orbital rims. 

Submal implants will give you a fuller and the illusion of a shorter mid face, and soften the prominence of your lateral cheek bones. Fat grafting of the temples will also improve facial proportions from the front view. Implant size will be determined after physical examination; custom implant are rarely needed because there are many sizes and shapes available.
