Before considering plastic surgery, you will need a full current workup by you endocrinologist or PCP who is managing your diabetes. If your blood sugars are well controlled and you are otherwise healthy, you can receive medical clearance for both procedures. Select a board certified plastic surgeon who will provide the correct postoperative guidelines to prevent compromising the results of either procedure.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
Dear acsc143,Some plastic surgeons may want to split this into two operations depending on the time needed. Its best to see a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine your options and whether it would take too long, more than 4 hours, to do all.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Thanks for your question. The problem in diabetics isn’t with wound healing but with infection. The fact that you had a successful outcome from a reduction while on antibiotics supports this. You should be fine as long as your surgeon and doctors are attentive to infection risks. Also maintain good glycemic levels before and after surgery. Hope this helps.
Although, it may be possible to have a BBL procedure and tummy tuck at the same time; there are limits as to how much liposuction can be safely performed at the time of a tummy tuck. Also, having diabetes can carry higher risks of post surgical infection. You should check with both your primary care physician and your plastic surgeon to see if combining the two procedures would be reasonable in your case, or whether it would be a better idea to separate the two. Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.

Hi The BBL is relatively new to Australia and has only been prevalent in the last 18 months or so. It is certainly possible that the booty aesthetic hasn't reached NZ yet. It is fine to travel overseas provided it is to a world class institute and a fully accredited plastic...
Hello and thank you for the question. This is a very common procedure. It is done under full anesthesia. I typically will do a 360 degree liposuction procedure for the front abdomen and back including the flanks. The fat is saved and re-injected into the butt and hips. The surgery typically...
