I had a beast reduction in 2014 and was put on antibiotics. Everything went smooth.
Answer: Can a person with type 1 diabetes A1C 7.2 get a BBL and a tummy tuck at the same time? Before considering plastic surgery, you will need a full current workup by you endocrinologist or PCP who is managing your diabetes. If your blood sugars are well controlled and you are otherwise healthy, you can receive medical clearance for both procedures. Select a board certified plastic surgeon who will provide the correct postoperative guidelines to prevent compromising the results of either procedure.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: BBL candidate Dear acsc143,Some plastic surgeons may want to split this into two operations depending on the time needed. Its best to see a board-certified plastic surgeon to determine your options and whether it would take too long, more than 4 hours, to do all.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Can a person with type 1 diabetes A1C 7.2 get a BBL and a tummy tuck at the same time? Thanks for your question. The problem in diabetics isn’t with wound healing but with infection. The fact that you had a successful outcome from a reduction while on antibiotics supports this. You should be fine as long as your surgeon and doctors are attentive to infection risks. Also maintain good glycemic levels before and after surgery. Hope this helps.

Answer: Can a person with type 1 diabetes A1C 7.2 get a BBL and a tummy tuck at the same time? Although, it may be possible to have a BBL procedure and tummy tuck at the same time; there are limits as to how much liposuction can be safely performed at the time of a tummy tuck. Also, having diabetes can carry higher risks of post surgical infection. You should check with both your primary care physician and your plastic surgeon to see if combining the two procedures would be reasonable in your case, or whether it would be a better idea to separate the two. Best wishes, Dr. Lepore.
