I would like to downsize from 750/800cc to 550/600cc, will my implant reduction require a lift? (Photo)

Hi! I'm interested in reducing the size of my implants. I'm currently 750/800cc and would like to downsize to 550/600cc. Would this revision require a lift? Is there a way to revise the pocket from the inside so that it can sit higher on my chest? I really don't want to do a breast lift.

Usually the downsizing leaves the patient with extra skin that does not fully contract. This leads to an appearance of breast tissue hanging off the implant so usually the surgeon will recommend a lift to remove the skin excess.

Once implants are removed, there will likely be flattening and drooping that can be corrected in large part with a breast lift. As far as the volume that is attained, that is a bit difficult to predict given the period of time that you have had the implants thinning the remaining tissue. No one can truly predict this as each soft tissue envelope will respond differently, but you may do well with just removal. If there is any doubt, explant using the original incision, followed by a period of several months of observation. After 6 months or so a decision for a breast lift with or without fat transfer can be made.

breast revision surgery is the most difficult plastic surgery procedure performed. Botched breast surgery alters normal tissue planes and laxity, the ability of breasts to heal properly, and leaves scar tissue that dramatically affects the level of difficulty of the corrective surgery.Many patients come in to correct poor outcomes from their initial surgeries. The most common problems are due to implant malposition, bottoming out of the implant, poor scarring, and incorrect implant size.While the type of revision required will depend on the result of the previous surgery and the desired result of the patient, some revisions involve extensive pocket repair that may or may not need specialized external bras.If you are considering breast surgery revision, you should speak with a board certified plastic surgeon and have yourself properly assessed. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Also, you have to make sure that your surgeon understands your breast augmentation goals.

I do recommend going smaller before those heavy implants cause even more sagging. An internal lift can be done, but you still may have some excess skin. An examination would be needed to determine if a periareolar lift could be done. You could also consider minimally invasive skin tightening procedure with radiofrequency like ThermiTight to help tighten the external tissue.

Hello and thank you for your question and photo.    YES, you need a lift for sure.  You are dropping almost 2 cup sizes so that stretched out skin is going to need to be removed .
