I have a large patch of very large pores/ hair follicles on only one side of my lower abdomen. Is there a way to get rid of them? Would microneedling help?
Answer: A combination of a Resurfx and a Melapeel to help minimize appearance of larger pores. Use Melapads as well after the shower Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and Melapads can seriously improve surface sun damage and UV related pigmentation. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Addressing Large Pores on the Abdomen: Is Microneedling an Effective Solution? Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that can help improve the appearance of large pores by stimulating collagen production and promoting skin rejuvenation. It is commonly used for facial concerns but can also be applied to other areas of the body, such as the abdomen, under certain circumstances. Here are some considerations for using microneedling to address large pores or hair follicles on the abdomen: Effectiveness: Microneedling can help reduce the appearance of large pores by promoting new collagen formation, which can improve skin texture and minimize pore size. However, the effectiveness can vary depending on the underlying cause of the enlarged pores. Underlying Causes: If the large pores or follicles are due to specific skin conditions or genetic factors, microneedling might not fully resolve the issue. It's important to identify the root cause to determine the most appropriate treatment. Consultation: Before proceeding with microneedling, it would be beneficial to consult with a dermatologist. They can assess your skin condition, determine the underlying cause of the enlarged pores, and recommend a tailored treatment plan. Alternative Treatments: Depending on the diagnosis, other treatments, such as laser therapy, chemical peels, or topical treatments, might be more suitable in conjunction with or instead of microneedling. Discussing your concerns with a dermatologist will provide you with a clearer understanding of whether microneedling is the right option for your specific condition and what results you can realistically expect.
