How long after breast augmentation can I wear a strapless wired bra?

It is not so much a question of how long after surgery you can wear a strapless bra, because my patients can wear a strapless wired bra or no bra at all anytime after surgery.  I use no post-op bras at all and leave it to the patient to choose. The main concern is how much swelling and how long the swelling of the upper breast takes to resolve before the wedding.  This varies tremendously between women depending on their pre-existing anatomy, tightness or lack of tightness of the breast/skin envelope, and implant size. Some women who have, for example, been pregnant and nursed may have a loose skin envelope, and when they have an implant that is not overly large, may look like they have not had surgery a couple of weeks later. On the other hand, if a woman has not had children, has a small cup size is and going up to a C, and particularly if she has a relatively short nipple to fold distance, she may have a very prominent upper pole with swelling that may take at least 2-3 months to settle. And then there is every one in between.  
In general,  the upper pole swelling goes down sufficiently in the "average" breast augmentation to go to an event as you mentioned in about three weeks.

Depending on the type of surgery you will have done, your surgeon will advise you on when you can start wearing wired bras. Typically, in my practice, I recommend waiting 6 weeks after surgery for patients that have had inframammary incisions. This allows post-op swelling to subside and the appropriately sized bra to be selected without causing irritation along the incision.

Dear mwtley,every surgeon has a preferred type of bra that they let their patients wear after breast augmentation, as this would depend on various factors like the type of surgery performed and the size of the implant used. In most cases I tell my patients they can wear whatever bra they choose, or no bra at all after one week.  However this can vary depending on the patient's specific situation.  I suggest speaking with your plastic surgeon and following their recommendations.

Hello,  I generally ask patients to wait 6 weeks just to avoid pushing the implants up too much and having them settle too high.  It should be fine a 6 weeks but of course check with your surgeon.  If it is only for a day, it should be fine even sooner.  Enjoy the wedding!

like being a bridesmaid.  Are you prepared to still be a bridesmaid if your implants are not level?  If so, then you can go ahead and do this, ideally at least a month prior to the event.  My patients can wear underwire bras whenever they can tolerate it but some surgeons do not want their patients to wear underwire for months after the procedure.  So find a surgeon who can accommodate your wishes and allow underwire early and go for it if accepting of the potential risks post-op,

 After 5-6 weeks you can wear any type of bra.  It usually takes around 5 weeks for the major swelling to subside. This is when I recommend purchasing new bras. If you have a periareolar incision you can wear any type of bra following surgery. With an inframammary incision I worry about irritation of the incision and don't recommend underwire bras for 5 weeks.
