Is it possible that botox for underarm sweating does not work for some people?

Often some people need higher does than others.  It always works, but may take higher dosees.  You may want a more permanent option.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Only a very small proportion of patients will not find Botox effective for armpit sweating (axilllary hyperhidrosis). A higher dose might be necessary in your case and your doctor might consider doing 100 units per each armpit for a total of 200 units. 

Injecting Botox for axillary hyperhidrosis requires skill. It is simply not just injections. You must inject in the proper area after a starch/iodine test. Also the injections must be placed at the proper depth or they won't be effective. I have found only one person in 10 years that didn't respond after she had multiple prior treatments. My guess was that she was developing antibodies and she responded better with Xeomin.

If you have hyperhidrosis then the Botox to the underarms should have worked.  Perhaps the dilution for the injection was not done correctly.  You should return to your injector and let them know you have not seen a change.   Regarding your other issues, it should not be related to the Botox injections.  

Botox injections are meant for excessive sweating and will not stop all perspiration under the arms. the other symptoms are probably not related to the injections. are you sure you are seeing a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon

Botox would only address clinically proven and significant axillary hyperhidrosis and not just physiologic sweating which would not improve much with Botox. It also depends on who did the injection and how the injection was performed. Please consult an experienced and skilled physician for future treatments.
