The postoperative time for most rhinoplasty patients is often fraughtwith anxiety. During a rhinoplasty, the skin and soft tissues are oftencompletely separated from the underlying bone and cartilage framework. Theframework is modified and the skin is laid back down. These are big movementsthat are often intended to create millimeter changes to the shape of the noseonce it heals. After a rhinoplasty the nose swells from the trauma of surgeryand the tissues become edematous. This makes the normally pliable skin firm andcauses the nose to take on a “weird” appearance in the first few weeks aftersurgery. The nose continues to settle over the next few months as the edemafinally escapes and the soft tissues adapt to their new underlying framework. It will take 6 months to a year to see a final result. Close follow-up with thesurgeon is essential. Assuming there is no infection, patients should allow atleast 6 months for the swelling to resolve and the tissues to soften beforecontemplating any changes. At that point, a detailed exam and discussion willhelp delineate the best treatment option.
It is too early to tell; you still have swelling which in the early stages after rhinoplasty usually tends to lift the tip up. Be patient. The results look very good from the photos. Check with your surgeon periodically for your progress and he will be able to help you during the healing process.
You look to have a nice result at 3 weeks. It will be several more months before you know how things will look in the end, but I see no cause for concern at this point.
Based on your photos and the amount of time after surgery, your nose looks great. Time is your friend, be patient. Nasal tip swelling can take months, sometimes 6 plus to improve. I suspect you should do well. If you are truly concerned speak to your plastic surgeon. I am certain he / she can help you understand the healing process.Good LuckStephen M. I realize your concerns for postoperative swelling after rhinoplasty. 3 weeks is still a bit too early. I would give it more time.
