Thank you for your question. In our office I would recommend the Illuminize Peel® by SkinMedica®. This peel is wonderful for first-time, chemical-peel patients, patients with mild skin imperfections or patients that are looking for brighter, more radiant skin with no downtime. This peel is appropriate for all skin types.
Dear patient, Jessner peels are relatively conservative and can be performed without much prepping even in patients with relatively sensitive skin. It is ideal for patients of color. If you develop brown spots after a cut or a burn you should discuss this with your Dermatologist. You are probably more predisposed to getting blotchy post inflammatory discoloration after the procedure. Those patients in my practice get treated with Retin A cream and Hydroquinone about 2 weeks prior to the peel. Jessner peels are also very operator dependent. I can do 5 or 6 passes and get a much stronger response than the usual 2-3 passes. The stronger the peel (more layers) the longer the healing time and possible for redness and blotchy skin. I hope this was helpful. Yours Dr David R.

Chemical peels done at home are extremely risky. You could be left with permanent damage. Some things are better left to a professional and applying acid to the face is one of them. Please see an educated, licensed professional for treatment.
I have performed Jessner and TCA peels since 1999 and can tell you that most doctors don't spend enough time either explaining what can be expected from a Jessner peel or how to take care of the skin after the peel is done. Jessner peels can be very superficial but they can also penetrate very...
Good afternoon and thank you for your question! We typically advise patients to stop using any hydroquinone or exfoliants about five to seven days before receiving a chemical peel. Since Jessner's is a medium-depth peel I would advise stopping hydroquinone seven days prior. For more i...
Peels will not be enough to tighten skin but they will improve complexion and fine lines. I suggest laser combinations and radiofrequency treatments (Thermage/Venus Legacy) to promote collagen. Best, Dr. Emer.
Jessner solution usually has an expiration date on the bottle. These dates are determined by the maker of the peel and calculated by how long it takes for the active ingredients to lose their potency. There are other factors that can change the date too such as additives or...
