Sneeze 1 week after rhinoplasty?!

Belle,The main concern with sneezing is that it would blow air into the tissuesof the nose. While avoiding it is important (or sneezing with your mouth open),unless you feel sub-cutaneous air (crinkling under the skin) everything is probably just fine.To be sure, contact your surgeon and his office should be able to examine the tissues to assureeverything is ok.

Dear belle2007Sneezing after rhinoplasty can force air into your subcutaneous tissues from the incisions inside your nose. In general, you have nothing to worry about. If you see any changes to the shape of your nose, or if you see progressive redness of your face, then you should contact your surgeon urgently. If you are worried, contact your surgeon to confirm, follow post op instructions and your followup appointments.

Thank you for your question. Sneezing with your mouth closed within a few weeks post rhinoplasty should try to be avoided, however, we are all human and it is not uncommon to forget. The air pressure inside the nose can increase when sneezing without the mouth open which can affect the incisions and result in a nose bleed. Chances are that you are fine, but if you have any concerns, I would contact your surgeon to be evaluated. 

... and relax! The biggest risk from sneezing (or noseblowing) after a rhinoplasty is a nosebleed. So if you didn't start bleeding, then you didn't do any damage. You didn't undo anything that your surgeon did. Good luck and best wishes!
