Is there a way to treat my nasal perforation?

Question

I have a hole in my nose from cocaine abuse back when I was around 17. I’m 36 now but I heard the nasal perforation can get bigger and it’s really scaring me. I quit drugs long time ago but I really really really don’t want it to get bigger. It’s kinda hard to see because it’s kinda higher up in my nose but it looks to be about the size of my index finger nail. It’s so annoying too like it whistles…not loud but I can hear it when I’m sleeping. I hate it so much!!! Is this treatable??? Thanks

Most nsssk perforations don't need to be treated. Only if there are symptoms. If the perforation whistles you can look into surgical repair.

Septal perforations may be treated surgically, and the success of these operations depends on the size and location of the perforation. Perforations at the bottom of the septum that are small may be repaired, but the success rate is likely around 60%. While researching surgeons, a room humidifier and nasal saline rinses may help with your dryness and crusting. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

Symptoms of septal perforation include nasal whistling with breathing, internal nasal crusting and scabbing, frequent nosebleeds, nasal pain, headache, and nasal drainage.
Nasal septal perforation treatment depends upon its size. 
Small perforations are often symptomatic, responsible for whistling. Treatment consists of debridement and rotation or transposition of a local septal flap to seal the perforation.
Larger symptomatic perforations can be treated with placement of a prosthetic "plug".
Large perforations are usually asymptomatic unless the size of the defect endangers the structural integrity of the septum itself, in which case nasal reconstruction is required.
Visit a board certified plastic surgeon for evaluation, examination, and discussion.
