I had a permanent crown put on my back tooth on Friday and it is Tuesday. It feels tight. If I close my teeth at all, it hurts

The pain is not a cold or hot pain it hurts to bite down it feels like the tooth is a little bigger then the rest. The pain is tolerable with ibprophen and I have had no problem sleeping. Can this be resolved on its own? Do I have to go to the dentist? If they have to remove the crown will I get a shot because of how sesitive it is?

Sounds like you may have apthous ulcers which can be caused by stress or even dental work . They are completely benign buy can be painful.  They should resolve in 3-5 days.  I would avoid any spicy foods, citric acid, etc.

Hi:Alcohol should not be mixed with medication.  If you are taking any antibiotics or pain medication you should wait until all the medication is done before consuming alcohol.Best,Dr. Maddahi

Hi: When a root canal is done the tooth becomes dry and brittle.  Without a crown to protect it you can always crack the tooth while eating.  It’s best to get a crown as soon as possible. Best, Dr. Maddahi

You should see your dentist to have the bite adjusted so that the tooth does not become painful.  If left alone, you will eventually adjust to the tooth being too big but will then create other issues.

You must go there without making any delay because tooth decay will increased and it further damage rest of the teeth as well. So it is good to get treatment in team to avoid these problems.
