Do you recommend Rogaine?

Question

I was recently diagnosed with androgenic alopecia after biopsy of my scalp. I have been told once you start Rogaine you cannot stop. Is this accurate? Please advise! Thanks in advance. I miss my hair:(

If you use Rogain, you will get good results in a period of 4-6 months. But after stopping it you will return to the beginning. Therefore it is always suggested to consult with a doctor first.

If hair growth is going to occur with the use of Rogaine (Minoxidil), it usually occurs after the medicine has been used twice daily for at least 3 to 6 months and lasts only as long as the medicine continues to be used.
Unfortunately, Rogaine will not cure your hair loss condition. Additionally, the improvement rate varies from person to person. Hair loss will begin again within a few months after minoxidil treatment is stopped. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hair loss expert to go over your condition and advise you on best treatment options.

Yes, you would need to continue using Rogaine to maintain results. It will take up to 6 months to see results with Rogaine. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hair loss expert to go over your condition and advise you on best treatment options. There are great non-invasive options like prp/progesterone which works well with Rogaine. Rogaine does improve hair follicle function why you are using it.  If you stop, you will lose any progress you made but you will not be worse off than you would have been had you never used it.

With Rogaine (Minoxidil), you can have a short period of hair shedding when you start the medication but that will reverse. The new hair that grows on the drug will be dependent upon it
