Hello Doctors! My question is very objective. I am about to start treatment with topical minoxidil/finasteride. Does minoxidil lose its effect over time? Also topical finasteride? I am afraid to start topical medication because I fear it will lose its effectiveness in the long term.
I underwent FUE surgery 4 weeks ago with 4000 grafts. I previously used oral finasteride but experienced side effects, so I'm considering trying a combination of topical minoxidil and finasteride. Is it safe to use this mixture after 4 weeks post-op?
Hello Hairloss experts. Are the chances of side affects from minoxidil more from the topical or a low dose oral version? Let's say 1mg to 1.25mg oral vs 5% topical once a day. If one were to apply topical minoxidil is there a chance of higher side affects due to the fact that more of the foam will be used topically on the scalp and more can get absorbed vs a 1mg to 1-25 mg oral version.
I've recently switched from Topical 5% Minoxidil foam to Oral Minoxidil 2.5 mg/day. I had stable hair in mid-scalp/crown for years using topical, but wanted to switch for convenience/healthier scalp. Noticed immediate thinning 1 month in and a lot more after 3 months at those two areas. Not seeing much regrowth. Is it possible to have steady success with topical but not responsive to oral?
I was previously prescribed 2% minoxidil and spironolactone for biopsy confirmed androgenic alopecia and telogen effluvium, which I took until trying to become pregnant. I'm 6 months postpartum and have just started experiencing diffuse hair loss more in line with telogen effluvium. I know minoxidil is safe to apply topically but am wondering when to time resuming it because of the initial shed I got with it before. Please advise
Two months ago I started minoxidil and I was applying a lot(5 ml per day). I am a 20 year old male. I basically applied a 4 month supply of minox in a month and a half. I stopped applying two months ago but now I heart palpitations that occur frequently during the evening and morning. I have visited a clinic and they performed a ecg(incomplete right bbb and non specific ST abnormality) and it showed something abnormal. I have yet to perform a echocardiogram and stress test, should I be worried?
I used to have really thick hair. I started losing it slowly a couple years ago. The last couple months it's been shedding excessively. It looks dramatically different now. (Family members can tell that it's a lot thinner) I went to the doctor and was told it was likely to be androgenic alopecia or Telogen Effluvium. They told me the only way to know is through a biopsy. I'm currently taking 75 mg spironolactone and Nutrafol women multi. I was advised to use 5% Minoxidil. Should I use it?
