B-lite breast implants - Do any of you have thoughts about this implant? Experience with them? Pros/cons?

I came across an article in pubmed about a type of breast implant called B-lite which is supposed to help with the pulling down of the tissues over time. I’m already not liking that my breasts hang lower on my body than they did before implants so this idea is intriguing to me for future revision. Do any of you have thoughts about this implant? Experience with them? Pros/cons?

I've only used B-lites once in my practice. I believe they have a place in ladies who have back problems when using very large implants. Their lighter weight can be beneficial.

Dear Pinkvock, Thank you for your question. I'm assuming that you already have implants and are dissatisfied with their placement on your chest (too low). I do not think (not positive though) B-Lite implants are even available yet in the U.S. The theory is that because they weigh up to 30% less than the current silicone implants there will be less pulling on the soft tissues. While this sounds appealing, that suggests that the implant is the only reason for low hanging breasts after augmentation. In reality there are multiple reasons for this to occur including pre-op position of the breasts, tissue characteristics (elasticity, stretch marks, age, etc), weight of implant, position of implant. Since your implants are already too low you may need a lift to elevate your tissues. An in person exam is needed to comment further. Good luck. Dr. Gervais.

The concept behind the B-lite implant is that it is lighter than the normal implant, therefore less gravitational descent.  However, your breasts are already hanging low.  Instead, I recommend a lift technique called The Bellesoma Method.  This will reshape your breast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate them higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage.  Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation and the ability to breast feed are maintained.  At the same time or later, fat transfers can be performed if additional volume is desired.  Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.
