I'm 56 years old and in good health and want a breast reduction. My bra is a 38H. No matter how much weight I lose, at this point my boobs don't get smaller.
Answer: What doctor should I ask about a breast reduction? My primary care doctor, or my OB/BYN? Thank you for the question. Based on your description, you may be a good candidate for breast reduction surgery; this operation tends to be one of the most patient pleasing operations we perform. Obtaining referrals from your primary care or ObGYN physicians would be a good place to start. Ultimately however you will need to do your own due diligence when it comes to selection of plastic surgeon.I would suggest starting with the American Society of Plastic Surgery and/or the Aesthetic Society of Plastic Surgery to obtain a list of well experienced board-certified plastic surgeons. Then, I would suggest you visit a few surgeons whose practices concentrate on aesthetic surgery. Ask to SEE lots of examples of their work AND preferably speak/see patients who have had similar procedures done. Be very careful with your decision-making. You will find, while doing your due diligence, that there are many different “specialties” who will offer their services to you; again, I strongly recommend you concentrate on surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. I hope this, and the attached link, helps. Best wishes.

Answer: Breast Reduction See a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for an evaluation of your breast. It is important to see a real plastic surgeon, who is Board Certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) or the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). You can verify their certification by going to the website of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Inc . The plastic surgeon will evaluate your breasts and send a letter to your insurance company for approval. If you do not have insurance or the insurance company does not cover breast reduction, you can do as a cosmetic procedure. Patients are highly satisfied after breast reduction because it helps relieve neck, back and shoulder pain, as well as fungal and bacterial infections under the breast.

Answer: What doctor should I ask about a breast reduction? Maybe I don't understand the question. Do you need a referral for your insurance company. If so, usually the Primary Care doctor would handle referrals. Otherwise just make an appointment with an experienced plastic surgeon if it is information about the surgery that you need.
