I've been told to wear a bra for 6 weeks but the one I have is making the completely numb is it too tight? Does the post op bra have to be tight or is it but for support. I have no idea what kind of bra I can wear but that one is making me so sore and numb I can't carry on wearing it. Will just a normal sports bra work or does it have to be a certain type. I don't want anything to go wrong but it's just so uncomfortable

Answer: Numbness wearing bra If you are experiencing numbness, then it sounds like your bra is too tight. Best thing to do in this circumstance is to discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon, they may offer an alternative bra or suggest a sports bra instead. Hope this helps!

Answer: Post op bra instructions Hey Chloemarie92. Congrats on your new breasts. In time, they will look fantastic once swelling and settling are complete. If you had a straight breast augmentation (no lifting) then you do not necessarily have to wear a bra at all. I tell my patients that the sole purpose of your surgical bra is to hold in your dressings/gauze etc. after surgery. If you are not bleeding, oozing, or anything else, there is no purpose of the bra or the dressings it holds. The bra gives added pressure to your swelling and will make you feel uncomfortable especially if it is tight and going without a bra will not affect your results. However, each PS has their own guidelines/rules that they want their patients to follow. My suggestion is to make sure that this is okay from their standpoint.
