Severe bruising and swelling during and after tear trough injection. I had tear trough injections yesterday, on my right side my lower bleph bruised and swelled immediately, it looked like a blood vessel was hit and literally blew up into a hematoma. My left swelled and bruised a little later. I've been icing all night without improvement. Is this related to ischemia into a vessel, or too shallowly placed?

Answer: Bruising after tear trough injections Bruising can be common from needle injections of filler to the tear troughs. It is not ischemia of the vessel, but puncturing the vessel with a needle that leads to bruising like this. The tear trough is filled with small blood vessels and this is one area that I tend to use a blunt-tipped microcannula for injections. By using this technique, it is much less likely to get bruising, although it is still possible. In your case, you will probably have to wait out the swelling and bruising for some time.

Answer: Bruising and swelling after filler injection in tear trough You should call your injector now so that he/she is aware of your side effects and can guide you in what to do now. In the future, I would recommend that any filler injections under your eyes be done with a microcannula instead of a needle. Make sure that you are seeing a reputable and experienced injector. Best of luck.
