I’m wanting a find the correct procedure to improve my side profile, I’m thinking a rhinoplasty and maybe a chin implant but would be interested in hearing from professionals on what they believe would be the best options.

Answer: Choosing the correct procedure Your mandible is undersized and lacking in projection. The problem is however not in the tip of the mandible called the mentalis or your chin but rather in the body of the mandible. Your chin has a good projection as can be seen in the relationship between your chin and lower lip unless you already have a significant socket or deep labiomental angle. The problem is not in your chin but further back along your mandible. Most likely you’ll have a significant dental overbite and all the other sequelae that comes from having an imbalance between the mandible and maxilla. I suggest you have a few in person consultations with local oral surgeons to get a quality assessment regarding your facial bone structure. I see no particular strong indication for a rhinoplasty. I think all your issues are related to the size and shape of your mandible and oral surgeons are probably in a better position to give you an accurate assessment and discuss all the treatment options. There is some overlap between plastic surgery and oral surgery. Plastic surgeons who done craniofacial fellowships do more advanced procedures that are also performed by oral surgeons.
