Why do I have a worse jawline 8 months post platysma surgery? (Photos)

Question

45 years old. Surgery for lip suction and tighten bands under chin. Constant swelling since surgery april 15th 2022. I continue to be told to wait and it takes time. I normally heal quick. Low sod diet. 5 - 6 months of chin compression. Still Noticeably swollen and not told why. Just that it looks boggy and Dr is frustrated.

Heavy swelling depends on the type of technique used. Surgery limited to above the platsyma can indicated residual fat under the platysma. If dissection was under the muscle, it can indicate residual anterior digastric muscle, sub mandibular gland, or even a previously undetected salivary fistula. Physical exam, not photos would be useful and the solution would eventually be re exploration but the doctor you choose should be comfortable with partial gland removal.
