I have been using Atarax and clobetasol. I do not want to take neurontin because of the side effects. I use a lot of mind over matter and that works well most of the time. I get small 1-2 mm lumps that are exquisitly tender and burn. I wonder if I have some ingrown hairs/trauma from scratching? My biggest concern is, will this ever go away??? I can live with it knowing it will. But the idea it won’t get better frightens me a lot. Surgeon wants to refer me to a neurologist which scared me.
Answer: Itching after brow lift Thank you for your question! Sorry to hear what is happening. A lot of this depends on the technique that was used. Traditionally a coronal or tricophytic incision will cause more itching than an endoscopic brow lift. Reason being that the little nerves that innervate the scalp come from right above the eye and run up the forehead - so they can be traumatized during the browlift. As you heal, you will go from numbness to little "zaps" as the nerves reconnect, to itching as they continue to fire and make their way to normalcy. Ingrown hairs certainly contribute, but this far out its unlikely that they are the main problem. While 8 months post op is on the longer side, I have seen some cases take even longer to return to normalcy. I would continue to follow up with your doc, as they know what technique was used and what they normally expect in their patients. Best of luck, and I hope some of this helps.

Answer: Severe scalp itching Hello ivrn1, Thank you for your question and sharing your concerns. I am sorry you are dealing with some postoperative issues. However, itching of the scalp after a browlift/forehead lift is not unexpected, and has to do with the nerves reconnecting with healing, and is typically transient. The raised, tender areas certainly could be secondary to ingrown hairs as well. Since you are 8 months out and the itching is still severe, that may be why your surgeon wants to refer you to a neurologist. The good news is it will likely go away in time, but how long that may be is uncertain. I hope this is helpful. All my best!
