Is it important to see a surgeon who is experienced with working on people of your ethnicity/race?

I am East Asian and live in an area with few Asian people. I’m considering facial plastic surgery and a BBL. I’m looking for surgeons, and I’m wondering if I should concentrate my search in areas with a higher Asian population. Would surgeons with more experience working on Asian faces and bodies be more likely to produce flattering results? Or does it not matter very much. Thank you!

Your way of thinking is far from being racist, we all feel intuitively better understood by our alikes, your thoughts are natural and as simplistic and valid; if you have difficulties to feel protected and cared for by non-Asian surgeons, I strongly recommend you to find one with the required skills and at the same time providing you the necessary comfort for your difficult procedure.

However, I'll give you an example, I am a male (obvious), I don't have woman's breasts (obvious too), would you believe does this make me less qualified to perform breast surgery? This is just a rethorical question... poor women in the world majoritarily attended in the world by male surgeons who don't understand women's bodies... that's the same logic.

Another example, would you say an Asian surgeon is less qualified to operate on a causasian, afroamerican, jewish or andine nose? Dr. Toriumi would kindly disagree with you ;)

PS: asian facial plastic surgery is one of its kind, specially rhinoplasties, they are a technical hell for surgeon and the most difficult ethnic noses closely followed by other types; far from that difficulty also the asian eyelid surgery (double crease, epicanthus) nees specific understanding of its techniques
